How to write sales pages that don't suck!

RIP, 43-scroll sales pages!

About this course:

I've done a great deal of content writing over the years, and I've witnessed a lot of what does NOT work.

I've also witnessed a lot of what DOES work. And that, my friends, is what I'm going to share with you.

Transcript:

The toughest part about writing sales pages is that there are soooo many theories out there. Everybody has a template that you can follow, and the majority of them stick to this crazy 40-scroll landing page business that consists of a lot of crap people really don’t read anyway.

So why should you waste your time on that anyway?

We are in a world where you only have about 3 seconds to get someone's attention. Once you’ve successfully done that, you need to cut to the chase and not be sleazy in your call to action. So how do you do all that AND sell your product or service?

The key is being succinct: cut to the chase. You have to sell your product or service by telling its story in a way that shows how the product/service solves your client’s/customer’s problem.

The other key is to provide positive outcomes and focus on that solution instead of focusing on the fear of failure. People want to succeed. They don't want to fail. Your writing has to reflect that…and you MUST sell…without being sleazy.

Course Overview and Advice

This course is not your typical 5-day type of course. I cover these longer page types in sections. So if you wanted to tackle a section a day, it would take you 12 days to complete this course (maybe 13 with graphics, editing, and setup). Obviously, you can do multiple sections per day. Ultimately, I recommend that you schedule time in your calendar for the various sections so that you have an end date for completion AND so that you do not burn yourself out. It's very easy to burn out with this type of longer form content writing, so please keep in mind that “chunking” it out is vital to your success!

I have a few pieces of advice for you on this!

  1. What you’ll learn here isn’t JUST for sales pages. It can be for landing pages for various things. It can be for services pages. It can be used for product pages. You can tweak and add and subtract items as you see fit. You’ll see that it’s very versatile.
  2. You’ll feel the need to tell your life story. Don’t. No. Just don’t do it. With that being said, don’t edit yourself as you write. You’ll need to brain dump to get your thoughts on paper. Remember, you can go back and edit later. I know that it’s tough–believe me. I’ve always had a problem with self-editing before my thoughts even get on the page. But don’t prohibit yourself from writing them down in the first place. Just write. You can edit later.
  3. Remember, what you write is about how your product or service solves your client or customer’s problem. It’s about writing “you” and not “me”. If you write “me”, you’re forgetting about “you”!!

Alright…let’s dive in!
