Social media scheduling 101: How to schedule social media

One of the most frequent questions I get is how to schedule social media. The answer isn’t always easy, but there is a formula that you can follow to make your social media scheduling much easier and less time consuming.

Have a strategy

Even if you’ve never created a content strategy, you can do it. It can be as easy as figuring out one topic that you can cover for an entire month. I always make sure that there is some sort of call the action with that topic. It's not like you're going to sell all month long, but you do have to be sure that you don't forget to sell your product or service.

Create “big content”

Big content can be anything of substance. In our world, big content includes blog posts, videos, and podcasts. Anything you create that has a lot of content/text/substance is considered “big content”. (You can learn more about “big content” in our last blog post.)

The reason why I suggest you create “big content” is because it makes your social media a LOT easier to generate because you’ve already done the bulk of the work. You can take snippets of your content and create smaller social media posts that then, in turn, generate traffic to your website. And we all know what traffic to our website does: moves us up in search and helps us sell more products and services…which means more money in our bank accounts. So once you have big content, you can then use it to answer your problem of how to schedule social media.

How to be a social media scheduling champion, aka how to schedule social media

Take snippets of your “big content” and schedule them! It really is that easy. 🙂 Ok, there may be a bit more to it than that…

Obviously, you have to pay attention to your insights. You have to generate some graphics. You have to know what your keyword phrase is and how to best utilize that in your content and social media…
